My name is Samantha and I am SMASH Designs Books. I've always loved being creative and count myself incredibly honoured to be able to do something I love for a living. I've been drawing ever since I can remember and have always been inspired not only by the artwork and design I seek out in the galleries and places I visit, but also fashion and nature. 

 

I have a 1st class BA (Hons) Degree in Graphic Design. My work is predominantly illustrative and I am playful with colour and typography. All of my work starts out hand-drawn, either by pencil on paper or digitally on my iPad. From there, I develop and refine my designs using Adobe Creative Suite on my iMac. I am experienced in creating for both digital and print.

 

​I have an eye for photography, studying this as part of my degree and now having my own Canon DSLR camera. I like to use my own images as stock in my designs and was nominated for doing just that with the 2022 Design for Print award at Brighton Fringe.

 

​My book cover work is what I am most proud of. Having over forty designs on books that sell in Waterstones, grace the shelves of the British National Library, Oxford and Cambridge Universities. I work with self published authors, indie writers and publishers collaboratively, making visual art that translates their vision to catch the eye of  an audience and sell books.
